New paper on the interaction of prosumage and distribution grids

Neetzow, P., Mendelevitch, R., and Siddiqui, S. (2019). Modeling coordination between renewables and grid: Policies to mitigate distribution grid constraints using residential PV-battery systems. Energy Policy, 132, 1017-1033. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.enpol.2019.06.024

The paper addresses the interplay of prosumage and distribution grid capacities. It analyses different policy schemes regulating prosumage, their effectiveness to reduce distribution capacity needs, their cost-efficiency and their distributional implications. Based on German power system data, numerical results indicate that distribution grid requirements can be reduced through simple feed-in policies.
