The fifth “Workshop on the Ostrom Workshop” was held at Indiana University Bloomington
The fifth “Workshop on the Ostrom Workshop” was held at Indiana University Bloomington from June 18-21, 2014. The event is held every five years and is attended by all world renowned experts working on political economy, collective action and resource management in the tradition of Vincent Ostrom and the 2009 winner of Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences, Elinor Ostrom. More than 240 scholars participated in this event in a record turnout. Terming the occasion bittersweet, the chairman of the Ostrom Workshop Advisory Council, Dan Cole observed that the turnout indicated ‘just how vibrant the Workshop remains’ while there was a lot of reminiscing about the Ostroms who passed away in June 2012. Scholars and alumni from the Division of Resource Economics (RESS), Humboldt University Berlin had a sizeable presence in the workshop with over 15 participants, 23 parallel presentations and 5 dedicated panels. There were two panels led by Andreas Thiel on the Berlin Workshop in Institutional Analysis of Social-Ecological Systems (WINS) which were especially well attended and very favorably received. 25/06/2014
