Our PhD student Lydia Finzel presented her current research at this year's ECPR General Conference in Dublin
From the 12–15th of August, our PhD student Lydia Finzel went to this year's ECPR General Conference at the University College Dublin. In the midst of summer, the four day conference was packed with sessions about agri-food policymaking, environmental and energy politics and research on challenges of climate action, decarbonisation and energy transitions. The ECPR brings together political and social scientists from all over Europe.
Lydia's presentation about the topic Unpacking capacity for climate action: mechanisms shaping the effect of organisational capacity on policy implementation at the local level was part of the panel Fostering Climate Action: Insights into Policy Mix, Sequencing, and Organizational Capacity. The panel was topic-wise well aligned between the different presenters and brought up a fruitful dialogue between the researchers presenting and the ones who attended the panel. Whereas Lydia's presentation gave a more comparative view on organisational capacity in cities, such as staff and budget dedicated to sustainability, the other presentations offered a detailed look into specific cases, e.g. the City of Stockholm, and empirical and conceptual enhancements. Many researcher eagerly engaged in the discussion by asking further questions, recommending literature and offering ideas for specifying the used concepts and research designs. Thus, the conference was a huge success for her. Next year's ECPR General Conference 2025 will take place from the 26–29th of August at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece.
